Community Arts International was hired as the advisor to Safdie Associates to recommend appropriate international artists for the $8 billion project. The artists selected by Moshe Safdie created eight site-specific, architecturally integrated works that form an Art Path through the property. This is one of the largest art commissions ever completed as part of the integrated architectural process.
The sites feature a façade, water elements, suspended sculptures, standing sculpture, murals, and a site-specific ceramic installation. The project retained international artists from the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Malasia, including James Carpenter and Stephanie Hui, Antony Gormley, Sol LeWitt, Ned Kahn, Zhan Wang and Zheng Chongbin.
Community Arts International advised on contracts and budgets, managing artists, developing informational packets for the government of Singapore, assembling appraisals of the artwork, maintenance reviews, conservation reports, and all details necessary to bring this project to fruition. CAI monitored the artists' scope of work through commissioning, fabrication, shipping and installation.
