JAPAN PROJECTS

HANKYU Department Store, Tokyo and Osaka

Developed a traveling exhibition for Hankyu Department Stores. The exhibition was based on birds and the tradition of birdhouses. It consisted of both historic and traditional birdhouses created by bird lovers and artists. Bird care, migration, bird watching, and identifing of bird songs were included in an exhibition that toured Japan and was then donated to a national bird preserve.

Toys Club, Yokahama and Tokyo

CAI curated several exhibitions with Mr. Tshiro Kitahara, founder of Toys Club, Japan. Mr. Kitahara is a tin toys collector who started his own museum. It eventually led to the establishment of several museums, books and a television following.

CAI began working with Toys Club in the mid 80's by introducing this unique collection to the United States. Exhibitions were organized about Tin Toys as they emulate life; Robot and Space Toys and the World of Walt Disney.
